As with our earlier versions, we have named our latest version after an ancient powerful work. In this case we have taken from probably the most famous Greek philosopher, Aristotle, and a theory he evolved called the Theory of Universals.
Universals are types, properties or relations that are common to all of existence. In Aristotle’s view, universals only exist where they can be seen and experienced, never in theory only. In addition, a universal is identical in each of its instances.
As an example, a universal property could be the color red. All red things are similar in that there is the same universal, redness, in each of its occurrences. In another example, the universal property of being an apple appears in every instance of apples.
So how have we applied Aristotle’s Theory of Universals to Pipeliner? Each of the features we have instituted in this version deal only with factors, events and issues that exist in the real world.
Performance Insights
With Universals, we have greatly enhanced our Performance Insights functionality which empowers sales managers with real sales performance management. New features include:

Opportunity Fitness
The Pipeliner CRM Fitness feature, totally unique to Pipeliner, answers the question of how “fit” an opportunity is to close.
We have brought together several different parameters to indicate an opportunity’s fitness. Here is how these parameters, along with color coding, are utilized:
Green: Fit
- There are activities scheduled related to this opportunity, AND
- There are no overdue tasks related to this opportunity, AND
- The opportunity is on target to close on time.
Yellow: Attention
- There are no scheduled activities related to this opportunity
Red: Action
- The closing date is overdue, OR
- There is an overdue task related to this opportunity.
The Fitness feature can be seen throughout Pipeliner CRM. It is part of Opportunity Detail, the PipelinePipeline Sales pipelineis a visual representation of the stage prospects are in the sales process. and Bubble Chart views, where opportunities are shown against time, and many other places.
Fitness is also part of Pipeliner’s filter functionality, allowing you to filter deals as to their current state of fitness.
